How Do I Adopt?

Prospective adoptive parents participate in a “home study” that involves interviews and visits to their home by one of our adoption workers. During the home study process, prospective adoptive parents are encouraged to assess their own attitudes and abilities. Training and education are offered to parents so that they have an understanding about the child welfare system and its impact on children and families.
The brochure Adoption in Ontario: Private, Public and Inter-Country outlines the three adoption streams in Ontario and how to navigate successfully between them. The brochure provides information on what to expect as you engage with an adoption professional to complete a home study. Click here to read the brochure.
