Support

  • Children and youth in our care as of March 31, 2018:  322 (excludes children and youth from other societies and young adults over 21)
  • 2017-18 finalized adoptions (includes children and youth from other societies):  10
  • Families referred to other community partners in 2017-18:  155
  • Number of children and youth coming into care during the year (2017-18):  128

In fiscal year 2017-18, 67 individuals donated their time as either board or committee members or volunteer drivers. The volunteer drivers logged over 619,000 kms and devoted close to 12,000 hours serving children, youth and families.

Highland Shores Children’s Aid Service Framework

Finance & Administration

Highland Shores Children’s Aid receives funding based on a model established by the Ontario Government.  Finance accurately reports our service activities and expenditures and prepares our submission to the Ministry to ensure we receive appropriate funding.  In addition, Finance ensures timely payments to employees, suppliers and foster parents.  Finance is also responsible for all property management at our various work sites.

Human Resources

The Human Resources department provides human resources service to the organization in support of our Mission, Vision and organizational objectives, as well as support to individual managers and employees. Areas include recruitment, training & development, benefits, compensation, health & safety, in addition to answering questions regarding the collective agreement, human resource programs and general problem solving.

Information Services

The Information Services (IS) department ensures that there is a complete and efficient computing infrastructure to support the day-to-day operations of the agency.  This involves computer hardware and software, as well as phone equipment, video conferencing, and wireless internet connectivity.  The scope of the service includes frontline service workers as well as other agency management and administrative function areas.  With a recent emphasis in the field on efficiencies and data-based decision making, the role of IS has become even more critical as we see additional value leveraged through it in new and exciting ways.

We are open and here to help.

Highland Shores CAS is an essential workplace. Our doors are open; however, in accordance with Public Health guidance, all visitors and staff should stay home when sick. Visits should be rescheduled during the time symptoms are present until symptoms have improved for 24 hours or 48 hours for gastrointestinal symptoms.

Also, masks are currently required in all public parts of our building until further notice.
