Legal Administrative Assistant
Full Time- Temporary Assignment ending January 2026

Salary Range: $52,972- $66,219

Position description:
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, the Legal Assistant performs administrative functions for all in-house counsel and the department, as well as preparing legal documents as assigned. The Legal Assistant works within the guidelines and procedures established by the department and contributes to the overall work of the Legal Services Department.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Education and Skills:
- A two year Legal Office Administration Diploma or related education from a Ministry approved college is required; a Law Clerk diploma is preferred;
- At least 18 months experience in a legal work setting;
- A demonstrated ability to co‑ordinate matters in the legal system that relate to lawyers, Society staff and members of the public involved in the court system;
- Knowledge of court rules and the relevant legislation and expectations of the court office and understanding of child protection clinical practice;
- Demonstrated ability to work from a solutions-focused, strengths-based perspective;
- Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, office procedures, the use of office equipment and various computer applications;
- Demonstrated communication and organizational skills and technical expertise in legal research and law clerk matters;
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work cooperatively to assist others;
- Previous experience in the child protection legal field with proven skills in drafting of child protection legal documents would be an asset;
- Proof of valid driver’s license and $1,000,000 automobile liability insurance.
