Ontario celebrates Family Day on Monday, February 17th. Highland Shores Children’s Aid is taking the opportunity to remind the public that they have a continued need for families who will open their hearts and homes to teens and sibling groups.
Every young person deserves a supportive and loving environment to grow up in. Children and youth come into care for a variety of reasons, none of which are their fault. Whether they need protection from abuse or neglect or come into care as a result of difficult family circumstances, they each deserve a stable, loving home. Connecting with a family can provide a life changing experience for many of them.
Family Day is a celebration of families – all types of families. Children in need of a foster home come from diverse cultural, religious and family backgrounds. Many are teenagers, some are brothers and sisters and some have physical, emotional or developmental challenges. All of them deserve to benefit from a secure, stable environment that a family can offer.
The Society encourages all families to take the opportunity to enjoy spending Family Day together and to consider learning more about making a difference in the life of a young person by becoming a foster parent.
