In celebration of National Foster Family Week which took place last month, the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society (KHCAS) and Highland Shores Children’s Aid (HSCA) recognized their foster and kin families as well as their volunteers.
At its Annual General Meeting held on September 9th, KHCAS honoured its long-serving foster parents and volunteers. Seven of the Society’s volunteers were acknowledged for milestone years of service, including Marnie Couture and Shirley Foshang each with 20 years of service. Seven foster families were also recognized for their long-service including Karen Suggitt with 30 years of fostering and Shirley Ann Parcels with 20 years as a foster mom.
On October 16th, Highland Shores Children’s Aid held an appreciation dinner in Bancroft to recognize the dedication and commitment of foster and kin parents as well as volunteers from the North Hastings area. Foster parent Maureen Morgan was the recipient of the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Board of Directors Award for this year. Pam Sweeney and Ted Christiano were the recipients of the Foster Parent Recruitment Award. John and Mary Lee Kirkland, Donna and Ross Rutledge, and Sean and Bev Lloyd were honoured for 5 years of service as foster parents. Kim Grenier was honoured for 20 years of service as a foster parent.
On October 20th, the contributions of Highland Shores Children’s Aid foster and kin parents as well as volunteers from the Northumberland area were recognized at an event held in Cobourg. Nancy Boate was the winner of the Foster Parent Recruitment Award. Merv and Marie Brown and Lori and Raymond Whaley were honoured for their 20 years of service as foster parents. Two volunteers were also recognized for their long-service including Sharlene Bernard with ten years of service and Adrienne Bernard with fifteen years of service.
A recognition dinner was held on October 23rd at the Banquet Centre in Belleville for Highland Shores Children’s Aid foster and kin families and volunteers from South Hastings and Prince Edward County. Bonnie Bryans was provided with the Foster Parent Recruitment Award. Lisa and Jamie Moir were recognized for 20 years of service as foster parents and Kim and Ken Darrington were recognized for 25 years of service. Two volunteers were recognized for their long-service; Shirley Sutton with ten years of service and John Fowler with 25 years of service.
