The Boards of Directors of Highland Shores Children’s Aid and the Children’s Aid Society of Prince Edward have confirmed that April 1, 2013 will be the date of the legal amalgamation of the two agencies. In November of 2012 the two Societies announced that they would be amalgamating. The first step in this process is legal amalgamation.
As such, on April 1, 2013 PECAS will begin operating as Highland Shores Children’s Aid. However, programs and services at the Picton office will continue to operate as usual and all existing telephone numbers and contact information will remain the same.
Effective April 1, 2013 the re-established PECAS board will be dissolved and the current Board of Highland Shores Children’s Aid, which includes one member from the previous PECAS Board, will continue to govern the legally amalgamated Society.
The formal amalgamation of the programs and services of the two agencies is not expected to be finalized until the end of December of 2013.
Commenting on this first step in the amalgamation process, Darcey French, Board Chair for Highland Shores Children’s Aid said, “We look forward to beginning the process of combining our two agencies with the goal of providing the best possible service to the children, youth and families in the County of Prince Edward.”
