McHappy Day – May 4, 2016
On May 4th, visit McDonald’s locations in Hastings and Northumberland Counties, where one dollar from the sale of every Big Mac, Happy Meal or any size of a hot McCafe beverage will be donated to The Children’s Foundation Camps of Hope program. With the funds raised, The Children’s Foundation will be able to send more local kids to camp.
The Camps of Hope program lets children experience the joys and adventure of camp and for some it is often their first chance to venture outside their own neighbourhood.
Last year, The Children’s Foundation was able to send over 190 children to camp through funds raised locally on McHappy Day.

Workshop featuring speaker Dr. Diane Benoit, M.D. FRCPC – Attachment and Atypical Caregiver Behaviours Associated with Disorganized Attachment, September 26, 2016, 9am-4pm, Best Western PLUS Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre, 930 Burnham St., Cobourg
Presented by Highland Shores Children's Aid and The Children’s Foundation
Research findings show that the role of parents as attachment figures may be the most influential role in predicting socio-emotional outcomes for children. The purpose of this one-day workshop is to review pertinent aspects of attachment theory and findings from research and to apply the theoretical knowledge and research evidence to everyday practice. A special emphasis will be placed on the assessment of specific caregiver’s behavior associated with various types of insecure attachment in the child, including disorganized attachment. Video-taped vignettes of actual interactions between caregivers and children are used extensively throughout the workshop to allow participants to “practice” their observation skills and to discuss specific intervention strategies.
Registration Fee: $80 + HST (includes materials, lunch and nutrition breaks).
