As Ontario celebrates Family Day on Monday, February 18th, Highland Shores Children’s Aid reminds the public of their continued need for foster families, particularly for teens and sibling groups.
Every young person deserves a supportive and loving environment to grow up in. Family Day is a celebration of families – all types of families – and it’s a good time to bring to light the need for foster families who will open their hearts and homes to teens and sibling groups. Whether it’s for a short period of time or for a lifetime, connecting with a family can provide a life changing experience for kids in care.
Children and youth come into care for a variety of reasons, none of which are their fault. Whether they need protection from abuse or neglect or come into care as a result of difficult family circumstances, they each deserve a stable, loving home.
Children in need of a foster home come from diverse cultural, religious and family backgrounds. Many are teenagers, some are brothers and sisters and some have physical, emotional or developmental challenges.
The Society encourages all families to take the opportunity to enjoy spending Family Day together and to consider learning more about fostering a child or youth in need.
